Calling all punk rock, emo, and even post-hardcore fans! Are you looking for some new music, but don’t have time to listen to a full album? Rock Documented has two songs that you are not going to want to pass up! If you love bands like Too Close To Touch, then you are going to love Holding Absence! Hailing from Cardiff, UK, this band is comprised of Lucas Woodland (vocals), Feisal El-Khazragi and Giorgio Cantarutti (guitars), James Joseph (bass), and Ashley Green (drums).
The first song from Holding Absence is “Permanent”. Hovering over the first few seconds of the track is an ominous tone before the drums kick in and take over. Dealing with the topic of suicide, Holding Absence makes a point to show those who listen that there is indeed hope. Woodland’s vocals are impressive. He is able to move flawlessly from a soft and gentle melody to the beautiful cries that are typical with post-hardcore.
Losing the love of someone is never easy. “Me and you were joy. I am sorrow. She said, ‘I loved you yesterday, but I can’t love you tomorrow’. Too little, too late is all that I will ever be. When you sleep forever, dream of me”. Poetry is the best way to describe Holding Absence’s lyrics. They are charged with Woodland’s raw vocal energy and leave you begging for more.
After listening to these two songs, we only have one question for Holding Absence: when are you going to release more music? Everything about their sound is moving in the right direction and we can’t wait to see what else Holding Absence has in store!
