Black Label Society Drops “The Gallows”: A Riff-Laden Descent into Zakk Wylde’s Dark Playground

1 min read

Zakk Wylde and his merry band of berzerkers are back with a vengeance, unleashing “The Gallows” – a thunderous new single that proves Black Label Society isn’t just alive and kicking, but ready to stomp your eardrums into submission. This latest offering from the leather-clad lords of heavy riffage is a stark reminder of why BLS remains a force to be reckoned with in the hard rock arena.

“The Gallows” is a relentless juggernaut of chugging guitars and Wylde’s signature growl, serving up a potent cocktail of Southern-fried metal with a dash of doom. The track’s pummeling rhythm section, courtesy of bassist John DeServio and drummer Jeff Fabb, provides the perfect foundation for Wylde and fellow axe-slinger Dario Lorina to weave their six-string sorcery.

While some critics might argue that BLS is treading familiar ground, “The Gallows” showcases a band that knows its strengths and isn’t afraid to double down on what works. It’s the musical equivalent of a well-worn leather jacket – comfortably badass and unapologetically heavy.

The accompanying music video is a visual feast for BLS diehards, featuring the band in their natural habitat – a dimly lit, smoke-filled room, cranking out riffs that could wake the dead. It’s a no-frills affair that lets the music speak for itself, much like the band’s straightforward approach to hard rock.

As BLS gears up for their inaugural Berzerkus festival on September 14th, “The Gallows” serves as a tantalizing appetizer for what’s to come. With a lineup that includes Cody Jinks, Clutch, and Rival Sons, the event promises to be a headbanger’s paradise in the heart of Pennsylvania.

Love them or hate them, Black Label Society continues to wave the flag for uncompromising, guitar-driven hard rock. “The Gallows” is a testament to their enduring appeal and a reminder that in the world of Zakk Wylde, the riffs always reign supreme.
