Sublime have released the official music video for “F.T.R.,” turning a Fourth of July gathering into a poolside performance. Friends and family surround the band as the afternoon unfolds around a barbecue and swimming pool. The song comes from Until the Sun Explodes, their first studio album with Jakob Nowell.
For drummer Bud Gaugh, the setting connects directly to how Sublime began. “We started out as a backyard party band,” he said in comments published by The Music Universe. He described the shoot as a holiday spent having fun with people close to the group, adding that it might be his favorite video of all time. His account gives the gathering a personal connection to the band’s earliest performances.
Gaugh and founding bassist Eric Wilson now perform alongside Jakob, the son of late vocalist and guitarist Bradley Nowell. Their 2024 Coachella appearances introduced that lineup to a major festival audience, and Until the Sun Explodes followed as its first full album. Released June 12, 2026, through Atlantic Records, it ended the gap between new Sublime studio albums that began with their 1996 self titled release.
Jakob addressed the weight of that history when the new album was announced in March. “There’s no replacing history, period,” he said in a statement published by The Music Universe. He described Until the Sun Explodes as an epilogue to the original catalog and a thank you to his father. The title song made that relationship explicit, honoring Bradley and his work.
“F.T.R.” gives another song from the record its own video, this time with the band’s wider circle sharing the screen. It appears as the eighth track on the 21 song album, which also includes the previously released “Ensenada” and “Until the Sun Explodes.”
