This summer, the vibrant landscapes of Riverfront Park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, will pulsate with the rich, soulful sounds of psychedelic soul, courtesy of the acclaimed Austin, Texas-based duo, Black Pumas. The announcement comes from Harrisburg University Presents, marking a significant addition to their Summer Concert Series. Scheduled for July 25, the concert promises to be a highlight of the summer, showcasing the band’s unique blend of soul, funk, and rock.

Black Pumas, consisting of singer/guitarist Eric Burton and producer/multi-instrumentalist Adrian Quesada, have rapidly ascended the ranks of the music world since their debut. Their self-titled album, released in 2019, not only captured the hearts of music lovers worldwide but also earned them a prestigious Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year. The band’s journey has been adorned with seven Grammy nominations, underscoring their significant impact on the music industry in such a short span.

Their hit single “Colors” has become an anthem of sorts, celebrated for its emotive power and vibrant energy, earning nominations in two Grammy categories. Black Pumas’ performances are known for their electrifying energy and soul-stirring depth, qualities that have led them to stages as significant as President Joe Biden’s inauguration. Their appearances on popular shows like “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” have further cemented their status as a must-see act.

The announcement of Black Pumas’ concert is part of a broader initiative by Harrisburg University Presents to bring high-quality entertainment to the region. The Summer Concert Series will also feature the indie folk band Fleet Foxes on June 23, adding to the diversity of musical genres represented.

In addition to the summer series, Harrisburg University Presents has also announced an upcoming concert by musician Matt Kearney, set to perform at XL Live on October 2. Kearney’s new self-titled album, expected to drop on May 15, adds another layer of anticipation for music enthusiasts in the area.

Tickets for both the Black Pumas and Matt Kearney concerts will be available to the public starting March 8, offering fans the opportunity to secure their spots for these much-anticipated events. The announcement follows the recent revelation of four other concerts coming to XL Live this spring and summer, featuring artists like The Heavy Heavy, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, and Neon Trees.

For those interested in experiencing the soulful vibrancy of Black Pumas or the heartfelt melodies of Matt Kearney, tickets and additional information can be found on the HU Presents website. This summer’s concert series promises to be a memorable experience, bringing together music lovers from across the region to celebrate the power of live music.
