1 min read

Thursday night at Riverfront Park in Harrisburg, PA, was a night to remember as the Black Pumas delivered an electrifying performance as part of the Harrisburg University Presents Summer Concert Series. The show began with Lamont Landers, whose soulful performance perfectly set the stage for the main act.

Lamont Landers, the talented soul singer from Alabama, opened the night with a performance full of joy and energy. His voice, rich and emotive, captivated the audience from the start. Highlights included his performance of “Love and Happiness,” which showcased his impressive vocal skills and stage presence. If you haven’t yet checked out Landers, you’re missing out on a rising star.

When the Black Pumas took the stage, the energy in the park was palpable. Led by their magnetic singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada, the Austin-based duo is known for their high-energy performances, and they did not disappoint. Their setlist featured a mix of tracks from both their Grammy-nominated debut album and their latest release, Chronicles of a Diamond.

The night reached a fever pitch during the third song when Eric Burton, in a moment of pure rock ‘n’ roll abandon, suddenly leapt over both the photo pit and the crowd barricade in a single bound. Landing amidst a sea of shocked and elated fans, Burton continued to belt out the lyrics, now surrounded by the pulsing energy of the audience. This unexpected dive into the audience not only showcased Burton’s athleticism but also his deep connection with the fans, turning an already electric performance into an unforgettable moment of shared musical ecstasy.

The crowd went wild when they played “Colors,” their hit song with over 450 million streams. Burton’s mesmerizing vocals and Quesada’s masterful guitar work created a sound that was both expansive and intimate.

The Black Pumas’ performance at Riverfront Park was a testament to their status as one of the most exciting acts in contemporary music. Their ability to blend genres and create a timeless yet innovative sound is remarkable. If you get the chance to see them live, don’t miss it—it’s an experience you won’t forget.

In a world where many performances can feel formulaic, the Black Pumas and Lamont Landers brought a refreshing authenticity and raw energy to Harrisburg. This was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of music’s power to move and inspire, punctuated by moments of genuine, unscripted connection between artist and audience.
