Trivium Set ‘Crown In The Grave’ for November 20

Trivium will release Crown In The Grave on November 20, 2026, through Roadrunner Records. Their eleventh studio album follows 2021’s In The Court Of The Dragon and the 2025 EP Struck Dead.

The announcement comes with the release of “Crown In The Grave” and its official video, directed by Pavel Trebukhin. The song follows “Dead Inside Of Me,” which arrived September 16.

The title track also established the album’s creative direction. In comments published by Metal Injection, bassist Paolo Gregoletto traced its inspiration to Akira Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood. That film led the band toward Japanese horror and cinema from the 1950s through the 1970s, influencing the music, lyrics and artwork. Their own studio gave them room to explore those ideas while considering how to develop Trivium’s sound without discarding what defined it.

For vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy, the process also involved letting go of pressure after struggles with injuries and anxiety. “I stopped trying to be safe and perfect at every show,” he said. Accepting mistakes helped him enjoy performing again, an adjustment he connected to the changes within the band.

Trivium’s lineup now includes drummer Alex Rüdinger alongside Heafy, Gregoletto and guitarist Corey Beaulieu. When the band announced its fall tour in July, it identified the run as the beginning of a new period with Rüdinger and said it planned to introduce new material onstage.

Listeners got an early preview with “Dead Inside Of Me.” Gregoletto explained in comments published by Metal Injection in September that the song grew from a riff he had kept for five or six years under the working name “Slam.” The band developed it at the end of a writing day the previous summer, pairing that riff with a straightforward groove. “Take a death metal riff and play it like a stadium rock song,” he said of the approach. He also wanted the screaming and clean singing to work together as a single voice.

Preorders for Crown In The Grave include a Dawn Mix vinyl edition exclusive to Metal Injection, limited to 300 copies. Trivium’s official store has additional editions, including Blue & Pink Agony vinyl with a signed insert and a CD edition with a signed insert.

The album will arrive during Trivium’s previously announced North American tour. The run begins November 5 in St. Petersburg, Florida, and ends December 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina. In Flames and Frozen Soul join the bill, with Fit For An Autopsy and Orbit Culture appearing on different portions of the tour.
