Lacuna Coil Reworks “Fragile” and Enlists SWARM

1 min read

Lacuna Coil has returned to the opening track of Karmacode for “Fragile XX,” a new version released alongside SWARM’s remix of “I Wish You Were Dead.” Out October 21, 2026, through Century Media Records, the double single marks the twentieth anniversary of Karmacode while bringing a song from 2025’s Sleepless Empire into the celebration.

“Fragile” opened Karmacode in 2006, but vocalist Andrea Ferro remembers the band performing it before the album arrived. In comments published by Blabbermouth, he says its message about vulnerability and refusing to surrender still resonates. Revisiting it initially felt unsettling, particularly for main songwriter Marco Coti Zelati, but Ferro describes the result as something that “feels and sounds like Lacuna Coil in 2026.”

The new version arrives with an official lyric video created by The Orchard.

Lacuna Coil has taken a similar approach to its catalog before. In 2022, the band released Comalies XX, rebuilding and recording Comalies again. “Fragile XX” continues that willingness to revisit familiar material, this time focusing on the song that introduced listeners to Karmacode.

The other half of the release comes from a different period. “I Wish You Were Dead” originally appeared on Sleepless Empire, released February 14, 2025. SWARM takes that recording into remix territory, giving the double single both a new version made by the band and a reinterpretation from an outside producer.

SWARM’s connection to the anniversary runs deeper than the release pairing. He says hearing Karmacode helped shape his musical taste and made him a lasting fan. In comments accompanying the news, he explained that accepting a remix for an artist he admires means finding a reason to change the song while respecting what made the original work.

Both tracks are available through Lacuna Coil’s official release page.
