Primus are giving Sailing The Seas Of Cheese a physical twist. A new vinyl edition arriving November 20, 2026, contains yellow liquid sealed inside the record, putting the album’s title into motion when it hits the turntable.
The Sound Of Vinyl is selling the pressing as “Cheese” Filled Liquid Vinyl. The filling is a yellow liquid inspired by cheese, and its movement changes the record’s appearance as it spins. According to the retailer, the record remains fully playable and the liquid doesn’t affect playback. Its appearance and movement can also differ between individual copies, so the effect won’t look exactly the same on every turntable.
Originally released in 1991, Sailing The Seas Of Cheese was Primus’ second studio album and their major label debut. “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver,” “Tommy The Cat” and “Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers” all appeared on the record. This edition retains its 13 tracks, with the brief “Seas Of Cheese” opening side A and “Los Bastardos” closing side B.
The new pressing also joins several different interpretations of the album’s title on vinyl. Separate “Cheese Melt” and “Cheese Wheel” colored editions have already been offered this year. The November release adds actual moving liquid to the design.
U.S. preorders through The Sound Of Vinyl cost $69.98, with a limit of four copies per customer. The pressing is excluded from the retailer’s sitewide sales and discounts.
