Burn Eternal Release “Wounds I’ve Made” and Set Album Date

1 min read

Burn Eternal have released their first single, “Wounds I’ve Made,” giving listeners the first full song from Howard Jones and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz’s new project. The track arrives with an official lyric video and news that their self-titled debut album will be released February 26, 2027, through Metal Blade Records.

The song has been waiting a long time for this introduction. Dutkiewicz says he wrote it six years ago, making it one of the earliest pieces of music created for Burn Eternal. Jones describes its subject as accepting responsibility for past mistakes while recognizing when change is necessary. Regret, personal growth and relationships that have run their course all figure into his explanation of the lyrics.

Their decision to make music together grew out of a meal in the UK. Both musicians were there performing with their respective bands when Jones asked whether Dutkiewicz had any riffs he could sing over. They began developing songs without a label commitment or a deadline, giving the collaboration room to take shape. In the album announcement, Jones recalled that “there weren’t any expectations,” while Dutkiewicz described a writing partner eager to explore different ideas.

They already had years of shared experience to draw on. Jones joined Killswitch Engage in 2002 and recorded The End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies and the band’s 2009 self-titled album with Dutkiewicz. His departure was announced in January 2012, although the musical connection continued. Jones returned as a guest on “The Signal Fire,” from Killswitch Engage’s 2019 album Atonement. Burn Eternal gives that partnership an entire album under its own name.

Getting the completed record into listeners’ hands took longer than finishing the music. In a May 2026 interview with Metal Injection, Dutkiewicz explained that mixing and mastering had already been finished for months. Negotiations over a suitable record deal and the search for artwork were among the remaining steps. By then, he had even started writing material for a second Burn Eternal record while the first awaited release.

The duo announced their agreement with Metal Blade in October. With the release of “Wounds I’ve Made,” the debut now has a title, date and complete tracklist. Burn Eternal contains nine songs, beginning with the new single and closing with “Fell Silent.” Album preorders are available through the band’s official release page.
