Slaughter To Prevail vocalist Alex Terrible is reconsidering the version of masculinity he grew up wanting to embody. In an Instagram statement shared October 22, 2026, he said confronting his own fears has become a greater priority than building an imposing physique or improving his fighting ability.
The statement, reproduced by ThePRP, traced that ambition back to childhood action movies. Terrible admired characters whose appearance and combat skills made them intimidating, and he pursued physical training with those figures in mind. He credited that work with requiring years of discipline and persistence, but said it eventually prompted him to reconsider what he had wanted from it.
Looking back at those characters, he recognized that they experienced fear and acted despite it. He also described noticing people whose bodies were physically fragile but whose determination remained intact. Those examples changed the qualities he wanted to develop in himself.
“I want to be strong in spirit,” he wrote.
In the accompanying caption, Terrible made the discussion personal by naming death, darkness and uncertainty as things that still frighten him. He described overcoming those private fears as more rewarding than the external markers he listed, including appearance, fighting skill, fame and money. His account acknowledged that a person’s most difficult struggles can remain invisible to everyone around them.
Masculinity has previously brought Terrible criticism. His August 2023 video “4 Rules Of Real Man” presented heterosexual behavior, combat sports and listening to metal among its criteria, prompting objections from members of the LGBTQ community. Later that year, he described the video as a joke and denied being homophobic.
His new statement focuses on how he wants to approach his own weaknesses. Terrible said he intends to continue physical training and martial arts, while putting more effort into confronting fear. He also wants that work to encourage other people to address the fears they carry themselves.
