Alex Terrible has denied being a Nazi in a written statement addressing his Black Sun tattoo and the professional consequences he says have followed controversy over his past. The Slaughter To Prevail vocalist directed the message at people who work with him and anyone considering a future business relationship.
Some people and companies have declined to work with him, Terrible said, including people who privately expressed respect and support but feared damage to their own reputations. He did not identify those individuals or businesses. “I am not a Nazi. I have never considered myself a Nazi, and I never will,” he wrote.
Describing his youth in Russia, Terrible acknowledged spending time around people on the political right and within the football hooligan subculture. He said he knew the Black Sun’s history, but viewed wearing it as an expression of rebellion connected to that environment rather than a declaration of Nazism or fascism. His account places the decision within his social circle while acknowledging that he understood the symbol had a history beyond it.
The specific Black Sun design was created by the Nazis in the 1930s and later adopted by white supremacist groups, according to the ADL. The organization distinguishes that design from other sunwheel symbols, many of which have no connection to hate movements.
Terrible acknowledged that his personal interpretation did not erase that history or what the symbol represents to other people. He said he understood why people drew conclusions from seeing it and accepted responsibility for choosing to put it on his body. He also said he does not identify with either the political right or left.
His tattoo choices were also discussed in an interview published by Metal Hammer on August 19, 2026. Terrible told the magazine he would not get the same tattoos again because his outlook had changed. The magazine reported that the Black Sun tattoo had been covered up. Asked whether he expected to escape the allegations, he said he believed they would continue to follow him despite his responses.
On business relationships, Terrible said some people who previously turned him down had approached him after he became successful, although the controversy remained the same. He said he understands that others may decline to work with him because of his past, adding, “But I also won’t work with you in the future.”
