Spiritbox gave “Mourning” its live debut at Glasgow’s SEC Centre Hall 3 on September 12, opening their European and UK headline tour. The PRP reported the debut, which followed the release of the new single earlier this month.
The band saved the song for the end of the set. According to The Guardian’s review, Courtney LaPlante introduced it by telling the audience, “It’s time to wash away all the baggage from the past.”
“Mourning” was released through Pale Chord and Rise Records. In its September 8 announcement, Pale Chord identified the song as Spiritbox’s first new music since their second studio album, ‘Tsunami Sea.’ That album arrived in March 2025, placing the new release roughly 18 months after its predecessor.
The recording continues the band’s work with producer Dan Braunstein. Metal Hammer reported that Spiritbox produced the standalone single alongside their frequent collaborator. The song reached the stage within days of its release, becoming part of the opening night of the tour.
Alex Bemis and guitarist Mike Stringer directed the accompanying official music video. Pale Chord’s announcement describes outdoor performance scenes and a recurring hooded figure, with the visual moving into color after the monochrome presentation associated with ‘Tsunami Sea.’ Watch the official video below.
Jinjer and Dying Wish joined Spiritbox on the Glasgow bill, as listed by Live Nation. Both bands are also supporting the remaining UK dates, which continue through Nottingham, Manchester and Cardiff before reaching London’s OVO Arena Wembley on September 19.
The mainland European leg follows, with stops including Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam and Antwerp. The announced itinerary concludes October 9 at La Seine Musicale in the Paris area. Spiritbox return to the stage tomorrow, September 14, at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.
