A Night of Raw Punk Energy with Mannequin Pussy at The Sylvee

1 min read

The Sylvee in Madison Wisconsin was high charged with energy for Mannequin Pussy. But Chicago's Alt/Indie band Finom opened the evening. The three piece band took a few songs to capture the audience, shortly after the bands upbeat grooves captured the fans. Through the rest of the set the crowd was locked in with the band and loud cheers erupted after each song. The groups guitarist Sima was very noticeably pregnant, nine months to be exact as she had talked about a few times during the set. The show at The Sylvee was the last show of the tour for Finom as Sima would be taking off to have her baby. Being nine months pregnant didn't slow her down. She played and sang back up giving it all she had.

After quite a long break between bands over thirty minutes Mannequin Pussy finally hit the stage. The Philadelphia based band has built a reputation of turning vulnerability into volume, the bands Madison Performance showed exactly why they have become a force in modern punk rock.Their songs can shift from more of a delicate feeling to total chaos within each song. Those contrast really take on a whole new feel in a live show. Singer Missy owned the stage for the night giving the fans that raw feeling thats not perfected sound but the sound that makes punk rock what it is, straight up in the moment attitude and energy. The fans were totally feeling the bands energy, and the moments created by Mannequin Pussy. The Sylvee was the perfect venue for the punk show, and the band brought in decent sized crowd. Fans were excited before, during and after the show.

As a lover of both music and photography, it's great to be able to mix the two of them together. I love the excitement and the in the moment of concert photography. I'm also a portrait photographer and have been doing photography professionally since the beginning of 2020. Equipment I use are the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II along with a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm both f2.8 as my main lenses. I also have long lenses for soundboard shoots along with various fixed focal length lenses. I cover Wisconsin shows with Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay as my main focus. I am available for hire in Wisconsin for any bands in need of a photographer, concerts or promotional photos.
