Brooks & Dunn Raise A Neon Moon Over Green Bay

2 mins read

The Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was packed full for a night of great country music on September 26, 2026. Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Moon Tour stop in Titletown was a much-anticipated show for country fans.

The night started out with Willow Avalon taking the stage. She is a country newcomer who released her first full album in 2025. I wasn’t familiar with her or her music, but she had a great stage presence and pulled the audience right on into her music.

Next up, David Lee Murphy took the stage for a set that lasted about an hour. He played hits of his like “Party Crowd” and ended the set on his most well-known hit, “Dust on the Bottle.” Murphy also did some covers to fill the hour. I knew a few of his songs, which were fun to finally hear live.

Headliners Brooks & Dunn, the greatest country duo of all time, are known for knocking out hit after hit through the years. They are in the Country Music Hall of Fame and hold the record for the most CMA Award wins. It’s no wonder the excitement was as high as it was to see these guys in concert, and what a concert it was.

Back in 2009, Brooks & Dunn announced their retirement ahead of a farewell tour in 2010. When I heard that news, never having seen them in concert became a regret of mine. Then, when they got back together, I was finally able to catch them live, and this time seeing them again was an amazing opportunity.

These guys sound so good live and have such a great stage presence. The stage had a large screen behind them with images that helped set the mood for many songs. Notably, the starry sky with neon moons for the hit and one of my favorites, “Neon Moon,” really looked great, along with many fans holding cell phones with the flashlight on to help light up the arena.

Another favorite of mine was “Red Dirt Road,” which must have been a crowd favorite also, with the audience singing along. Kix Brooks also said that “Red Dirt Road” is his favorite song that he had ever written.

Brooks & Dunn have so many hits that are constantly played on country radio still. With hits like theirs, it kept the audience totally engaged the whole show. Every song is just as big as the other. There were so many sing-along moments, leaving a lot of interaction with the audience, along with loud cheers and applause after each hit.

From the first song, “Brand New Man,” to the last, “Only in America,” there were absolutely no disappointments in the set. It was a great mix of music through their entire catalog. Some other favorites of mine through the night were “Lost and Found,” “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind” and “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone.” The set lasted an hour and a half and looked and sounded great in every way.

The interaction between Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn is also great to witness in concert. Once, when Ronnie Dunn was talking, I found it funny when he said they tell him not to talk during shows because he tends to ramble on. At one point, he also talked about how the best horse he ever bought was from Wisconsin and also the most expensive, and how he had to write this song to pay for it. Then they played “Cowgirls Don’t Cry.”

I totally suggest going to see country greats Brooks & Dunn in concert if you ever have the chance. I look forward to and hope to have the chance to see them again in the future.

As a lover of both music and photography, it's great to be able to mix the two of them together. I love the excitement and the in the moment of concert photography. I'm also a portrait photographer and have been doing photography professionally since the beginning of 2020. Equipment I use are the Canon R6 and R6 Mark II along with a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm both f2.8 as my main lenses. I also have long lenses for soundboard shoots along with various fixed focal length lenses. I cover Wisconsin shows with Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay as my main focus. I am available for hire in Wisconsin for any bands in need of a photographer, concerts or promotional photos.
