Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final performance will reach cinemas worldwide on October 28, 2026. Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, produced by Mercury Studios and distributed by Trafalgar Releasing, will screen for a limited engagement, combining the farewell concert with backstage footage and personal reflections from musicians.
The film returns to Birmingham’s Villa Park, where Back to the Beginning took place on July 5, 2025. Ozzy performed a solo set before joining guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward for the original Black Sabbath lineup’s final appearance together. The event gave him the opportunity to close both chapters of his performing career in the city where the band began.
That goodbye was the reason Sharon Osbourne set the concert in motion. His wife and manager, who oversaw the event, said she had asked Ozzy what would make him happy. His answer was the chance to perform again and acknowledge the fans who had supported him. “He wanted to say goodbye and thank you,” she said in the film announcement.
Ozzy died 17 days after the concert, on July 22, 2025.
The day also assembled musicians from across several generations of metal. Tom Morello served as musical director, with Jason Momoa hosting and bands including Metallica, Slayer, Tool and Alice in Chains performing. Alongside those sets, guest musicians joined forces for collaborations throughout the event. The film places the farewell performance alongside reflections from artists influenced by Ozzy and Sabbath, as well as a look at what happened behind the stage.
For Sabbath’s members, the reunion offered a chance to finish together. Iommi described that sense of completion in the announcement: “It was a closure for the band and it was a good way to go out, I think.” Butler recalled feeling the audience’s affection as something almost tangible, while Ward described being back in a place where he belonged. Their accounts give the film another perspective on the show, from the musicians responsible for its closing performance.
Ben Wainwright-Pearce directed the screen version, while Tim van Someren directed the live concert. Mercury Studios, which also worked on the 2025 broadcast, has prepared the film specifically for theatrical presentation. Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound versions are part of the announced cinema release.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, September 24, at 7 AM PT, 10 AM ET, 3 PM BST and 4 PM CEST through the official film website, where fans can also sign up for release information.
