Trivium released “Dead Inside Of Me” on September 16, giving listeners their first song from the band’s forthcoming eleventh studio album. The single arrives with an official music video directed by Pavel Trebukhin.
Bassist Paolo Gregoletto had been holding onto the song’s starting riff for five or six years under the working name “Slam.” It found its place at the end of a long writing day last summer, when the band began repeating it over a straightforward groove. The arrangement developed around the possibility of putting that heavy guitar part into a different musical setting. “Take a death metal riff and play it like a stadium rock song,” Gregoletto explained in comments published by Blabbermouth. He also wanted the screamed and sung vocals to connect closely enough to feel like a single voice. Having that clear idea helped the band make decisions as the song developed.
The lyrics draw loosely on the Japanese concepts of honne and tatemae. Gregoletto connected those ideas to the distance between someone’s private feelings and the version of themselves they allow other people to see.
The forthcoming album follows 2021’s In The Court Of The Dragon, although Trivium issued the three song Struck Dead EP in October 2025. Further details about the new full length are still to come.
That EP took shape while the band was preparing to revisit Ascendancy onstage and converting its Hangar space in Orlando into a recording studio. Gregoletto explained at the time that the initial plan was to release a single during the tour. As construction continued, the band kept writing, eventually expanding the project to three songs. Trivium produced the recordings themselves, working with Mark Lewis at the Hangar before Josh Wilbur handled mixing and mastering. Rehearsing the older material influenced the writing, while Matt Heafy drew on personal struggles for the songs.
The next album also follows a change behind the drum kit. Alex Rüdinger joined Heafy, guitarist Corey Beaulieu and Gregoletto for touring and writing sessions in fall 2025. The connection went back much further: Trivium had asked him to join nine years earlier, but the timing had prevented it. When the opportunity returned, the former Whitechapel drummer began learning the band’s existing material while preparing to contribute to what came next. In an October 2025 social post reported by Blabbermouth, he called it “a second chance at something that I always wanted.”
Trivium will head out on their previously announced North American tour on November 5 at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida. In Flames, Orbit Culture, Fit For An Autopsy and Frozen Soul join the bill, with the run scheduled to finish December 19 at The Fillmore in Charlotte, North Carolina.
