Nevertel Welcomes NYC to “The Otherside”

3 mins read

Rising rock duo Nevertel has been quickly making a name for themselves in the scene. After constant touring with major acts, such as their recent tour with Wage War, the band finally announced their own headlining tour, the Welcome to the Otherside Tour, hitting major cities across North America from September 19 to October 18. This tour comes shortly after the band’s newest singles “OTHERSIDE” and “LAST BREATH,” which were released on April 21 and September 1, respectively, signaling an exciting new era for the band.

Now reaching the final stretch of the tour, the band visited New York City’s Gramercy Theatre on October 9, 2026. That Friday night, New York fans made sure to bring the energy to Nevertel’s set, making it a memorable night for everyone involved.

Kicking off the night was Australian-based metalcore band Ocean Sleeper. As soon as vocalist Karl Spiessl jumped onto the stage wearing an “I Love NY” T-shirt, the band immediately ramped the energy up in the venue, with crowdsurfers already coming through the room. Ocean Sleeper opened their set with the headbang-worthy “Peace When I’m Dead,” the title track of their newest album, Peace When I’m Dead, which was released on August 28.

The band’s combination of melodic choruses and heavy hooks and breakdowns can easily have the crowd switch between singing along and moshing. Throughout the set, the enthusiasm among the crowd never slowed down for a moment, with the fans continuing to mosh and crowdsurf until the very end. Even if people were just being introduced to Ocean Sleeper that night, they certainly left the show as new fans.

The second and final opener of the night was alt-rock duo Rivals. Led by vocalist Kalie Wolfe and drummer Josh Alves, the band opened with their newest single “Adrenaline Rush,” a high-energy metal-influenced track. Right away, crowdsurfers started coming through the venue. Kalie’s endless energy and powerful stage presence had the crowd hooked, completely immersed in the set. Kalie also jumped into the pit for one song, instantly making a memorable moment.

Halfway through the set, the band slowed things down a bit with “When Does It End” from their 2025 EP Medusa’s Home, with Kalie telling the crowd about the personal importance of the song and how, if they are struggling with mental health, they are not alone. The band closed with the self-confident anthem “Nobody Loves Me” and new metal-inspired single “Bite the Bullet,” which had fans crowdsurfing until the final note. Needless to say, Rivals successfully warmed up the crowd for the upcoming headliner.

Later that night, the lights dimmed as the room filled with cheers. Green lights on the stage lit up as an instrumental intro began playing over the speakers, building anticipation among the crowd as they chanted “Nevertel! Nevertel!” Soon enough, Nevertel walked onto the stage and kicked off their set with their recent single “OTHERSIDE.” Vocalists Jeremy Michael and Raul Lopez commanded the stage, easily raising the crowd’s energy. As fans at the barricade were jumping and headbanging, countless crowdsurfers quickly started moving through the room and showed no signs of slowing down.

Nevertel’s music is a breath of fresh air in the rock and metal scene, and it is no wonder why the band is on a quick upward rise. With elements of metalcore, hip hop, nu metal, and more, Nevertel is breaking the boundaries of what metal can sound like. Heavy breakdowns follow catchy alt-rock choruses, with some rap influence sprinkled in, and no two Nevertel songs ever sound alike.

The band performed a variety of tracks from their discography, such as the fan favorites “Losing Faith” and “Break the Silence” from their 2025 album Start Again, as well as their newest single “LAST BREATH.” As the night went on, the mosh pit only continued to grow, while other fans kept crowdsurfing. The band even pointed out NYC’s boundless energy, saying that they were one of the best crowds on the tour.

Towards the end of the set, Jeremy mentioned that this show in NYC was extra special because it was his sister’s birthday, and she was able to make it to the show. As he invited her onto the stage, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

To close out the show, the band performed their 2021 hit “everything in my mind” and their 2025 fan favorites “Some Things” and “Criminal.” Although it was the end of the night, the fans made sure to bring as much energy as possible, closing out the set with a wall of death. That night, NYC Nevertel fans left with the memory of an unforgettable show.
