9 mins read

On July 17, metalcore heavyweights Motionless in White released their latest album Decades via Roadrunner Records, a celebration of their history as a band since their beginnings in 2004.

This past summer, the band kicked off leg one of The Sweat and Blood Tour and embarked on leg two on October 30, hitting arenas across North America up until November 20 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Not only was the second night of the tour Halloween night, the definitive holiday for Motionless in White, but it was also their annual Apocalypse Fest. Fans from across the country gathered at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on October 31, 2026, for this special night, dedicated to celebrating the vast history of Motionless in White. With spectacular stage production and an extensive setlist full of fan favorites and deep cuts that haven’t been performed in decades, this year’s Apocalypse Fest would go down as one of Motionless in White’s most career-defining performances.

Kicking off the night was rising metalcore band Dark Divine. Like Motionless in White, Dark Divine is in their element on Halloween. The band celebrates all things spooky, with most of their songs dealing with horror themes. Dark Divine emphasizes this visually as well, wearing intricate makeup onstage, making their stage presence even more memorable. The band opened their set with “Undead Melody,” the title track of their newest album Undead Melody, which was released on May 29 via Thriller Records.

Dark Divine’s catchy and fun brand of metal immediately captivated the crowd, keeping them engaged the entire set. Towards the end of the set, the arena lit up with waving phone flashlights as the band performed their song “Permanent.” Dark Divine closed out their set with their breakthrough song “Halloweentown,” fully getting everyone into the Halloween spirit.

The second band of the night was The Devil Wears Prada. Having been active since the mid-2000s, The Devil Wears Prada is a household name in classic metalcore. The band helped shape the sound of late-2000s and early-2010s metalcore, leaving a massive impact on the scene and future generations of bands.

The band opened with “Ritual” from their newest album Flowers, which was originally released on November 14, 2025, via Solid State Records. Almost immediately, constant crowdsurfers started making their way through the room, and this energy continued to grow throughout the set.

Not only did they play newer tracks, but they made sure to give the old fan favorites some love as well; halfway through their set, they performed one of their biggest hits, “Danger: Wildman,” from their 2009 album With Roots Above and Branches Below. They closed with their high-energy track “Sacrifice” from their 2022 album Color Decay, and the fans continued moshing and crowdsurfing until the very end. The Devil Wears Prada successfully warmed up the crowd, getting them even more hyped for what was to come.

The final opener to take the stage was Dayseeker. Dayseeker has been one of the quickest rising metal bands in the past year, finding massive success with the release of their newest album Creature in the Black Night, which was released on October 24, 2025, via Spinefarm Music Group.

The band opened with “Pale Moonlight,” one of the lead singles from the new album, and the fans got off their feet immediately, with people crowdsurfing one after another. Dayseeker’s unique sound makes them stand out in the metal scene, creating grand, soaring melodies with heavy breakdowns woven in, fully capturing the raw emotions of the lyrics.

For their emotional track “Burial Plot,” thousands of phone flashlights lit up the venue as fans waved them in the air. The band closed with the heartfelt “Neon Grave,” leaving a memorable impact on the crowd.

At 8:45 p.m., the lights dimmed once again in anticipation of the headlining act. Per Motionless in White tradition, the “OIIA Cat” meme played on the screen, getting the fans even more hyped. A montage of clips from the band’s history began playing on the screen, with some dating as far back as the band’s formation. Once the montage concluded, Motionless in White walked onto the stage as cheers boomed throughout the arena.

The band opened with “Afraid of the Dark,” the lead single from Decades, a song specifically dedicated to celebrating how far the band has come, already starting the night off on an emotional note. As fans at the barricade were screaming along to every lyric, countless crowdsurfers started coming through, and this enthusiasm would only increase throughout the night. The mosh pit never slowed down, and fans would be crowdsurfing every other second.

There was a true sense of community at Apocalypse Fest that night, with thousands of fans, in their best Halloween costumes, joining Motionless in White for a one-of-a-kind celebration of their 20-year history. Early in the set, vocalist Chris Motionless took a moment to let everything sink in by looking at the vast crowd, telling them how much this night meant to the band and how they would’ve never gotten to that point without their support.

Of course, this night would come with a few surprises: the band performed “Trace Out the Heart,” a track from their 2005 demo, which had never once been performed live until this night. They even played “We Put the Fun in Funeral” from their 2007 EP The Whorror, which hadn’t been performed live since 2007. Their 2009 EP When Love Met Destruction got some love as well with “Ghost in the Mirror,” which was performed live for the first time since 2018 on the first night of the tour.

Throughout the set, it was clear how much effort was put into the production of the show, with eye-catching visuals, tons of pyro, and amazing performances from backup dancers the Cherry Bombs. During “Blood Rave,” an EDM-inspired collaboration with Dark Divine vocalist Anthony Martinez, lasers and confetti went off during the breakdown, making fans feel like they were at a true “blood rave.”

As the set was nearing its end, the band performed “Scoring the End of the World,” which has become one of their most memorable live songs due to the tradition of fans waving their arms to the chorus. Seeing thousands of arms waving back and forth around the arena was one of the most unforgettable moments of the night, truly emphasizing the community the band has built.

To end the night with a full-circle moment, the band closed their set with “570” from their 2017 album Graveyard Shift, a song celebrating their roots and their hometown. Everyone who got to experience 2026’s Apocalypse Fest will certainly be talking about it for years to come, and Motionless in White has proven themselves to be one of the most influential metal bands of today.
