April 12th, 2024, at Reverb in Reading, PA, was a monumental gathering for the hard rock and metal community, featuring a stellar lineup of Doyle, OTEP, and Red Devil Vortex. Red Devil Vortex opened the evening with a set that was both aggressive and captivating. Opening tracks “Open The Gates” and “More Luck Than Brains,” set the tone with their powerful riffs and thunderous drums. Following up with “Viper” and “The Devil’s Place” showcased their ability to blend melodic elements with hard-hitting rock, while “Disaster” and “Freak Show” highlighted their darker, more intense side. The set concluded with the anthemic “Something Has To Die,” leaving the crowd roaring for more.
OTEP took the stage next, delivering a performance that was nothing short of revolutionary. Otep Shamaya, known for her fierce presence and politically charged lyrics, led the charge with “Battle Ready” and “Blood Pigs,” energizing the audience with her dynamic stage presence. The set continued with powerful renditions of “Equal Rights, Equal Lefts” and “My Confession,” each song a testament to the band’s commitment to social justice and personal empowerment. “T.R.I.C.” and “Apex Predator” were highlights, showcasing the band’s tight musicianship and Shamaya’s compelling storytelling. The set concluded with “Fillthee” and “Menocide,” leaving an indelible mark on all who witnessed their performance.
Doyle, the legendary guitarist known for his work with the Misfits, closed the night with a set that was both haunting and exhilarating. Opening with “Abominator” and “Beast Like Me,” Doyle set a high bar for energy and intensity. The set included fan favorites “Cemeterysexxx” and “Valley of Shadows,” each song accompanied by his signature monstrous guitar riffs. “Show No Mercy” and Luke Wright’s drum solo provided a showcase for the band’s technical skills, while “DreamingDeadGirls” and “Learn to Bleed” offered a glimpse into Doyle’s dark lyrical themes. The performance concluded with “Witchcraft,” “We Belong Dead,” and “Run For Your Life,” each track a perfect blend of horror punk and metal, leaving the audience in awe of his stage presence and musical prowess.
