Bruce Dickinson will revisit his fourth solo album, 'Accident Of Birth,' with a newly remixed and remastered edition arriving through BMG this October.
The updated record will be released October 17 in the UK in conjunction with National Album Day. The worldwide release will follow on October 23.
Originally released in 1997, 'Accident Of Birth' reunited Dickinson with guitarist Adrian Smith during a period when both musicians were away from Iron Maiden. Roy Z helped produce the original record and played guitar alongside Smith, with Eddie Casillas on bass and David Ingraham on drums.
The album followed the more experimental 'Skunkworks' and marked a renewed focus on heavy metal in Dickinson’s solo catalog. Its twelve tracks include “Road To Hell,” “Man Of Sorrows,” “Darkside Of Aquarius,” “Omega” and the title track, “Accident Of Birth.”
Grammy winning producer Brendan Duffey created the new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes. Duffey previously worked with Dickinson on 'The Mandrake Project' and prepared Dolby Atmos editions of 'Tattooed Millionaire' and 'Skunkworks,' according to Louder Sound.
“'Accident Of Birth' was a really important album for me at the time,” Dickinson said in the release announcement published by Blabbermouth. “It lit a fire under me once more, especially as a songwriter.”
Dickinson also credited the record with giving him another opportunity to work with Smith. The two musicians returned to Iron Maiden in 1999 and have remained part of the band since.
The refreshed edition will be available as a tri panel digisleeve CD and on double splatter color vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve. The original Derek Riggs cover artwork remains part of the presentation.
