Brian Burkheiser Has “Addicted to the Habit” on Deck

1 min read

Brian Burkheiser will release “Addicted to the Habit” on September 25, 2026, under his Scatterbrain banner. The former I Prevail vocalist announced the single with a short clip posted September 18, adding another original song to a solo catalog that began taking shape earlier this year.

Burkheiser spent more than a decade handling clean vocals in I Prevail before his departure was announced in May 2025. With Scatterbrain, he has set out to write beyond the boundaries of that role. He describes the project as a place for rock, hip hop and pop, with his own experiences at the center of the writing.

Getting those original songs out took time. His first Scatterbrain release was a December 2025 cover of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” At that point, Burkheiser said he was still working toward being able to release his own material. The cover gave him a way to start sharing music while that remained unresolved.

“Phases” followed on February 13 with an accompanying music video. Ahead of its release, Burkheiser announced that his legal dispute was behind him and that he could release original music independently. “I’m ready to share my story,” he said on social media, in a statement reported by Blabbermouth.

He has continued adding to that story through individual singles. “Fast Lane” arrived in March, followed by “Bitter” on July 17. “Addicted to the Habit” extends that run into September.

The new single is available to presave through Scatterbrain’s release page, with options including Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube Music.
