Lionel Richie is taking time away from performing after undergoing a heart procedure, with three concerts on his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire canceled. His representative said the treatment went well in a statement published September 22, 2026.
“Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon,” the representative told People.
Richie underwent an ablation to treat atrial fibrillation, commonly called AFib, a condition involving an irregular heart rhythm. The canceled performances were scheduled for September 26 at Chase Center in San Francisco, September 30 at United Center in Chicago and October 2 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. His representative did not specify a return date in the statement.
The break follows earlier health issues that interrupted his concert schedule. On June 24, Richie experienced dizziness during the opening night of the tour in Minnesota, and the performance ended early. Chicago and Columbus shows were subsequently postponed after doctors advised him to rest. He returned to performing on June 30 in Pittsburgh, according to ABC News. Those two postponed stops had been moved to the autumn dates that are now canceled.
After an August 29 concert at The Muny in St. Louis, Richie checked himself into a hospital as a precaution. ABC News confirmed on September 2 that he was back home following that stay.
Refunds for the canceled concerts will be available through the original point of purchase, according to Live Nation information reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
