GWAR have announced GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a split album pairing their performance from Joe Bob Briggs’ 2025 Halloween special with material from John Brennan and the Bigfeet. Due November 13, 2026, through Pit Records, the release collects music from the band’s visit to The Last Drive-In alongside songs written for the show’s final two seasons.
The announcement comes with a live video for “Splatter-Fu,” which Brennan wrote specifically for GWAR. It is one of six performances on the band’s side of the record.
The recording grew out of Joe Bob’s Splatterween, which aired on Shudder on October 24, 2025. The Halloween special also marked the 200th episode of The Last Drive-In, with GWAR joining Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl for an evening combining horror films and live music. The album preserves the musical part of that appearance, with the band moving between its own catalog and material familiar to the show’s audience.
That exchange runs through the set. “Lot Lizard” and “Gor-Gor” appear alongside “Joe Bob Is Back in Town” and “Drive-In Oath,” placing GWAR originals beside songs connected to Briggs’ show. “Splatter-Fu” was part of the same performance, giving the collaboration a song written with the band in mind.
For Brennan, hearing GWAR perform his work completed a connection that began long before the television appearance. In notes accompanying his “Splatter-Fu” demo, released the day after the special, he recalled discovering the band through Beavis and Butt-Head. GWAR performed three of his songs during Splatterween.
“Never in a million years did I ever think I’d collaborate with them,” Brennan wrote.
His own band occupies the second side of the album. John Brennan and the Bigfeet served as The Last Drive-In’s house band, and their portion includes material such as “Everyone Loves Halloween,” a 2023 “Splatter-Fu” demo and recordings from the show’s 2023 Jamboree. Those tracks place GWAR’s interpretations alongside work by the musician who wrote them. The release also marks the third official soundtrack collection from John Brennan and the Bigfeet associated with the series.
GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein contains 16 tracks across the two acts, with cover artwork by Dave Merrell. Vinyl, CD and digital editions are available to preorder through GWAR. The album is scheduled for November 13, while the band’s vinyl product page lists shipping for the week of November 16.
