PORN is back with The Darkest Of Human Desires – Act II. This album is a follow-up to The Ogre Inside – Act I, which was released in 2017. This album has Mr. Strangle come again into a gothic and mentally unstable world of murder and mayhem. It is not for the weak, so if you like good goth metal then this album delivers. Enjoy and don’t take it too seriously.
“Choose Your Last Words” starts the journey through a thriller. Its beat is harsh, a good guitar riff begins, then carries on into the drums. A little bit of badass and a lot of creepiness is the best description to give.
“Here For Love” is a different kind of love song. A strong drum beat makes a loud presence which continues throughout the song. The guitar is more mellow but in a hard way. The lyrics are strong. Don’t get me wrong, this is a love song, just more of a hard BDSM kind of love. It is a sexy song and would be an interesting song to use a vibrator to on a lonely night. A little bit of spanking can go along with the song between two consenting adults.
Take a listen to “Eternally In Me,” where a more electronic sound is taken upon on this track. It is a bit reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails in an eerie way. The lyrics shine in this song as to the nature of the beast, who on this album is the character of Mr. Strangler. It is dark but in a good way. This single has the strong presence of electronica. It will be a favorite to those into Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. It is electronic goth at its best.
The most notable track on this album is the last one titled, “The Last Of A Million.” It brings the entire album to an end and is brilliantly haunting. It is a bit of the ’80s movie, Weird Science, if it were a horror film. A thriller and murderous song with a mixture of metal and electronica makes a good one for a party. There is good guitar and drums throughout, and lyrics that would give nightmares to those who let it. A good song.
The Darkest Of Human Desires – Act II is an album that is not for the faint of heart. A gothic entrance into a world of horror. This is an original band that puts out deep, dark, eerie music in this second compilation of a trilogy. The last album should be just as original but, let’s get through the darkness of this album first, for the lyrics can be a bit disturbing. This is what nightmares are made of but, it is also a beautifully melodic and harmonious album at the same time. PORN may have one of the best band names ever, just because I find it humorous in a dirty way. This is a goth album and it is done well and right. Rock On!
