Nickelback have released “Make Me Love You,” adding a new ballad to the songs previewing their eleventh studio album, Everything Under The Sun. The single arrived September 24 with official audio on the band’s YouTube channel, ahead of the album’s October 30 release through Virgin Music Group.
The song focuses on the hesitation that can follow past heartbreak, even when a new relationship feels worth pursuing. Its central tension is the decision to trust someone again while knowing how badly that trust can end. The track premiered on BBC Radio 2, according to TotalNtertainment.
That focus on relationships follows “Leave Me Behind,” which explored loyalty and the difficulty of letting go. Both songs offer a different entry into the record from “Rattle The Cage,” the John 5 collaboration released alongside the album announcement in July. That track put the guitars forward, with Chad Kroeger connecting its energy to the band’s live shows. “Make Me Love You” continues the more reflective direction of the subsequent previews.
Kroeger had already made room for that range when introducing the album. “This album has every side of the band on it,” he said in the announcement, as reported by KNAC. He described a record that would include both forceful material and songs that pushed the group to try something different. The singles so far suggest that the album will move between those approaches, with its newest release concentrating on romantic doubt.
Everything Under The Sun follows 2022’s Get Rollin’. The standard edition contains 12 tracks, including the previously released “Bones For The Crows.” Preorders are open through the band’s official store, with vinyl, CD and cassette editions available.
