Rock Documented recently had the opportunity to check out the new band Twenty 2 Salute at the Viper Room in West Hollywood, CA. The trio consisting of Michael Schoon and brother Mark Schoon are complimented by drummer Raul Padilla also called J. Originally from Iowa, they have relocated to the Inland Empire of California to be closer to the local music scene with more opportunity and exposure.
They showed their zeal on stage with a mixture of metal/punk/hardcore and softness put forth in their seven song set which consisted of the following:
- Wild West
- Nobody
- Shadow Girl
- Master of Puppets (Metallica Cover)
- Answer Me
- The Lucky Ones
- To Keep Me at Bay
The really cool thing about these guys is that they are so enthusiastic and committed to what they are doing that they make sure to come out and interact with the crowd, building their fan base one at a time. They are happy to talk with as many people as they can about where they have been and where they hope to go. It is also noteworthy to point out that they have some pretty great supporters behind the scenes, one in particular, Ron Underwood, lead singer from 9Electric. He took special interest in the band and produced their latest video effort, “Nobody”.
It is truly fun to watch individuals who have a ton of talent and a lot of passion mixed together into one fireball of energy. If you get the chance, check them out and make sure to chat with them after the show. They will ignite your excitement for their vision and convince you to become part of the Twenty 2 Salute legion.
