Mark Hoppus recorded vocals for a Linkin Park song that has yet to be released, and he used the band’s film premiere Q&A to ask what happened to them. The blink-182 singer and bassist moderated the discussion following the Los Angeles screening of UNSHATTER at AMC The Grove 14 on September 24, 2026.
In footage KROQ shared on Instagram, Hoppus recalled Mike Shinoda inviting him to hear new material and record a possible album contribution. He jokingly pressed Shinoda about his missing vocal takes. “You were greater than the song,” Shinoda replied.
The exchange did not include a song title or release date. Hoppus described a recording that already exists, but neither musician announced plans to issue it.
His time in Linkin Park’s studio had already appeared in the film’s promotion. A preview released August 13 shows Hoppus sitting beside Shinoda as they listen to “Unshatter,” which appears on the deluxe edition of From Zero. Hoppus holds out his arm to show his goosebumps, a reaction Shinoda says moved him. The band released the scene on its official YouTube channel under the title “Goosebumps, You Can’t Fake.”
Directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn, UNSHATTER follows the group as its members work toward a return after Chester Bennington’s death. Studio footage from 2022 traces the process that led to From Zero and the band’s 2024 album release concert in São Paulo. Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain join that story as the musicians develop a new lineup, with archival material, performances and interviews connecting the studio work to the return to the stage.
The film is scheduled to open in limited theaters worldwide on September 30. Its accompanying live album, UNSHATTER Film Soundtrack (Live in São Paulo), is available ahead of the theatrical release.
